Matthew Long, New York City Firefighter, Founder,
I WILL Foundation

Four years ago, NYC firefighter Matthew Long – a marathon runner and triathlete – lay near death after he was run down by a bus as he biked to work during a city transit strike. After dozens of surgeries and hundreds of hours of therapy, he learned how to walk again, one painful step at a time. But that wasn’t enough. For Long, true recovery meant continuing the life he cherished before the accident. He established a new training regimen and employed an iron will and powerful support network to complete the 2008 NYC Marathon and later finished the Lake Placid Ironman 2009 Triathlon. Hear his inspiring story – and about his work as founder of the IWILL Foundation.
